The Roof Is on Fire
"The Roof Is on Fire" is a single from Rock Master Scott & the Dynamic Three released in 1984 that reached number five on the Billboard Hot Dance Music/Maxi-Singles Sales chart. It is remembered for its refrain
The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire!
We don't need no water—Let the motherfucka' burn!
Burn, motherfucka', burn!
Notability
"The Roof Is on Fire" was a moderate success, and the B-side of the single "Request Line" did arguably better in terms of radio play at the time and a music video for "Request Line" was released. The music video for "Request Line" had a reference to Michael Jackson's video "Thriller", with Charlie Prince wearing an outfit similar to Jackson's.
